Our Autumn 1973 number will contain additional information about this and other forthcoming publications. From time to time we will offer special issues: one is tentatively planned now for the Spring 1974 number devoted to Early American Fiction. From among the accepted material we will make some attempt to balance each issue in terms of historical periods and approaches. We intend to publish the best material submitted to us regardless of approach, although we expect all scholarly papers to be carefully written and properly documented according to the norms of the MLA Style Sheet. Toward this end we will publish articles, notes, and reviews as well as occasional interviews, bibliographies, and exchanges. We wish simply to provide a scholarly medium for the professional study of American fiction.
